DOMRADIO.DE appoints Renardo Schlegelmilch Editor-in-Chief

DOMRADIO.DE, Germany’s largest Catholic radio station, announces Renardo Schlegelmilch as its new Editor-in-Chief, succeeding Ingo Brüggenjürgen. Schlegelmilch will assume his new role on August 1, 2024.

With a career spanning 15 years at DOMRADIO.DE, Renardo Schlegelmilch has held various roles, most recently representing colleagues as spokesperson in the editorial assembly. He brings a wealth of experience, having studied journalism and completed his apprenticeship at the Catholic School of Journalism (ifp) in Munich.

Renardo Schlegelmilch is widely recognized as the host of the podcast "Himmelklar," featuring over 250 episodes engaging with prominent figures from the Catholic world, such as James Martin SJ and Paul Richard Gallagher, the Pope's foreign minister, as well as Cardinals Michael Czerny or Blase Cupich of Chicago. His journalistic journey has also taken him to renowned media outlets including the German Press-Agency dpa in Berlin, Deutschlandfunk and Vatican News in Rome.

His expertise lies in church politics and international affairs, areas he has covered extensively throughout his career. He has been instrumental in reporting on and analyzing the Synodal Path reform process, offering insights domestically and internationally. For several years he has been reporting for international outlets like the National Catholic Reporter, America Magazine or The Tablet. His contributions to understanding the role of the German church in an international context are valued by audiences in Germany and abroad.

In 2017 he wrote his first book on the role of religion in popular culture. "If you believe – Religion in Rock and Pop Music" was published by Echter Verlag in Würzburg, Bavaria.

Renardo Schlegelmilch's appointment underscores DOMRADIO.DE's commitment to quality journalism and insightful reporting on issues vital to church and society. His leadership is anticipated to further enrich the broadcaster's editorial offerings and engagement with its audience.
